Comparing Christianity and Buddhism

´╗┐Religion is such a broad subject; however, it's very relaxing to talk about. I believe that religion has a role in creating a sense of belonging. As we have looked at so many religions throughout the course of the semester, there has been one theme that sticks out the most and that's having faith in a deity to acquire salvation. Whether it's in God or Buddha, a person needs to have full belief and commitment to whomever deity they have claimed. My argument is that religion can impact one's life in the way they live their lives and treat others around them, whether it's Christianity, Buddhism or Confucianism.
Christianity is definitely an underrated religion. I believe there is a negative connotation that we can get from reading the Bible and it may even seem like a book of rules. He says in Deuteronomy 29:2 that, "Moses summoned all Israel, and said to them, "Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the ordinances which I speak in your hearing this day, and you shall learn them and be careful to do them. The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. This was said for a chosen people, the people that God led through Moses out of Egypt. It was a select group of people, but not because it was meant to be that way but simply because these are the people who "chose" to believe. Being a Christian, you don't have to be perfect because God, through Jesus, understands that we are flawed individuals. Yes he demands respect, but other deities don't? Jesus became human form for this very matter so that he could go on every believer's behalf and plead his case with his Father, God. I believe Christianity encourages a mentality of love, kindness, gentleness but at the same time a person of conviction who is willing to give their all even if it means selling something of value. Everything on this Earth is temporary and I believe a person of this religion would be worried more about how to please God and then the person sitting next to them.
